How We Built a Roofing Company's Website That Gets 40 Leads a Month

A behind-the-scenes look at how we designed and built a roofing company website that consistently generates 40+ leads per month.

Luke Bowman·

The starting point

When this roofing company came to us, they had a basic template website that was 4 years old. It loaded slowly, looked dated on mobile, and their only call to action was a "Contact Us" page buried in the navigation. They were getting maybe 5–8 leads a month from the website.

They were spending money on Google Ads but sending all the traffic to their homepage. Their Google Business Profile had 15 reviews. They knew they needed to do something different but weren't sure what.

Within 6 months of launching the new site, they were averaging 40+ leads per month. Here's exactly how we got there.

The strategy before the design

Before we wrote a single line of code, we did the research.

Competitor analysis. We looked at every roofing company ranking on page one in their service area. What did their sites look like? What were they doing well? Where were the gaps? Most of them had template sites with stock photos and generic copy. The bar was low.

Keyword research. We mapped out every service-related keyword with local intent: "roof repair [city]," "roof replacement [city]," "storm damage roof inspection," "emergency roof repair near me." This became the foundation for the site structure.

Customer journey mapping. When someone needs a roofer, what do they care about? Trust. Speed. Price transparency. Proof of quality work. We designed the entire site around answering those questions as fast as possible.

The build: what actually matters

Homepage that converts in 5 seconds. The hero section had three things: a headline with their primary service and location, a phone number that was impossible to miss, and a "Get Your Free Inspection" button. No sliders, no video backgrounds, no paragraph of company history above the fold.

Individual service pages. Not one page that lists every service — a separate, optimized page for each:

  • Roof replacement
  • Roof repair
  • Storm damage
  • Commercial roofing
  • Gutter installation

Each page had unique content, relevant keywords, before-and-after photos, and its own contact form. This is critical for SEO — Google ranks pages, not websites.

Location pages. They served 8 cities in their area. We built a page for each one with localized content, service details, and embedded Google Maps. "Roof Replacement in [City], AL" is a much stronger ranking signal than a generic "Our Service Area" page.

Speed. The site loads in under 2 seconds on mobile. We built it custom with optimized images, clean code, and no bloated plugins. Fast sites rank better and convert better — it's that simple.

Mobile-first design. Over 70% of their traffic comes from phones. The entire site was designed mobile-first with sticky call buttons, tap-to-call functionality, and forms that are easy to fill out with a thumb.

The trust engine

This is where most contractor websites fall short. People need to trust you before they'll give you their phone number.

Reviews front and center. We pulled their Google reviews directly onto the homepage and every service page. Not a generic "5 stars" graphic — actual customer reviews with names and dates.

Real project photos. No stock photos anywhere on the site. Every image is from an actual job they completed. We created a gallery page organized by project type, and added before-and-after comparisons that show the quality of their work.

Certifications and warranties. Their manufacturer certifications, insurance information, and warranty details are displayed prominently. These are differentiators that most roofers forget to highlight.

Team and company page. Photos of the actual crew, the trucks, the owner. A brief company story that's genuine, not corporate-speak.

The results after 6 months

  • Website leads: 5–8/month to 40+/month
  • Organic traffic: Increased 280% (SEO + content strategy)
  • Google Ads cost per lead: Dropped from $95 to $42 (better landing pages)
  • Average page load time: Under 2 seconds
  • Google Business Profile reviews: Grew from 15 to 85 (review request automation)

What made the difference

It wasn't one thing. It was the system:

1. A fast, custom-built website designed to convert

2. Dedicated pages targeting every service and location keyword

3. Trust signals everywhere — reviews, photos, certifications

4. Google Ads pointing to purpose-built landing pages, not the homepage

5. Automated lead follow-up so no inquiry went unanswered

Any roofing company — or any contractor, for that matter — can get these kinds of results. It takes a real website built for lead generation, not a template with your logo slapped on it.

That's what we build at Prowl. If your website isn't generating leads, it's not a website — it's a business card. And you deserve better than that.
